Over the past few years, we have witnessed a decline in interior design in Croatia, or at least a radical transformation of that genre towards generic solutions. Such a situation is primarily a sign of the general decline of urban culture, but also a sort of a withdrawal of architects from that area, which has a valuable modern tradition in Croatia: from the socialist modernism of the fifties and sixties, through the radical or eclectic works of the seventies, to the formation of an authentic interior design movement in Zagreb, which rose to prominence in the mid-1980s.
